Plant One Metre of Hedgerow
Plant One Metre of Hedgerow
Hedgerows are uniquely British natural alternatives for fencing on farms, that provide vital habitats and food sources for wildlife, helping to strengthen biodiversity and promote sustainable farming practices.
These unqiue structure not only provide shelter and food source for struggling native species like hedgehogs, snakes, and toads, but also improve animal welfare for livestock on the farm. The benefits of hedgerows don't stop they, they slow down water as it flows through a hilly field, providing flood mitigation benefits, and can sequester twice as much carbon dioxide as a woodland per square meter due to their dense structure.
Half of Britain's hedgerows were lost between the 1940s and 1990s, but we are helping to bring them back one meter at a tim, planting 4km of hedgerow in the last three years. With your help we hope to plant a lot more across England, Wales, and Scotland.
